  4. research and development in computerized database management systems.
  5. By purchasing this product, you have placed in your hands a system
  6. designed by experts, which combines power and ease of use in a way
  7. unique to your computer.

  9. We urge you to take full advantage of Superbase Professional!  To
  10. do this, you should at least examine the contents of both manuals and
  11. the manual addendum stored in the README!.doc file on the Program disk. We
  12. also suggest you become aware of the support facilities which PP&S 
  13. has designed to handle your needs.  The following paragraphs
  14. summarize these important support provisions and provide guidelines
  15. for their use.

  21. About O.S.I.N.
  22. -------------------------------------------------------------------
  23. The Official Superbase Information Network (OSIN) is an electronic
  24. bulletin board system dedicated to the users of Superbase
  25. Professional. Through this system, you will be able to receive 
  26. technical assistance directly from Superbase Application Developers, 
  27. and from Progressive's technical support staff. OSIN provides you with
  28. a forum for discussion of Superbase projects with other users all over 
  29. North America. For additional information, please contact our technical
  30. services department.  You will receive information about OSIN when you
  31. send in your completed use registration card.  Communication with a
  32. bulletin board system is accomplished via telephone with a modem. If
  33. you are unfamiliar with this procedure, you are missing out on one of
  34. the most convenient and informative services available to you, and
  35. we strongly recommend that you speak with your dealer to find out
  36. more about this process.

  38. Official Superbase Application Developers
  39. -------------------------------------------------------------------
  40. An Official Superbase Application Developer (OSAD) receives additional
  41. support from PP&S to facilitate development of professional or
  42. commercial database applications.  OSADs can, in certain instances,
  43. receive marketing advice or assistance directly from PP&S after
  44. completing their application.  OSAD conferences are planned, with 
  45. special guest speakers to give their expert insights on Superbase
  46. Professional's powerful development system.  More details regarding
  47. OSADs will be posted to the Official Superbase Information Network (OSIN).

  49. Technical Support:
  50. -------------------------------------------------------------------
  51. Technical Support is always available through OSIN. We have the
  52. capability of 16 incoming phone lines, which virtually eliminates
  53. waiting, and you are never put on hold. You may post your question at any
  54. time, day or night, even on weekends. Although some questions may
  55. take several hours of research, you will often receive an answer
  56. the same day. This method of support is very effective, since you
  57. can, if necessary, transmit files, forms, application code and
  58. your own comments directly to the technical support department.
  59. This dramatically increases the quality and efficiency of the
  60. support you can receive.

  62. As always, you may ask for assistance via U.S. Mail. We will
  63. answer each letter as quickly as possible, but we strongly
  64. recommend use of OSIN for the quickest response.

  66. Premium Technical Support is available by phone Monday through
  67. Thursday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm , Mountain Standard Time, Friday 9:00 am
  68. to 5:00 pm. (excluding holidays)

  70. Most technical support questions are more difficult to explain
  71. over a telephone than they would be if presented in a concise,
  72. visible way.  We therefore strongly urge all users to send
  73. inquiries via the OSIN, or in writing.  This gives the technical
  74. support department the opportunity to research questions in a
  75. more thorough way and answer in a more detailed, direct fashion.
  76. Please respect the rights of other users to obtain telephone
  77. support by not abusing your telephone support priveleges with
  78. long, drawn-out discourses involving complex situations. If you
  79. suspect you have found a problem in the program, take the time to
  80. see if the problem repeats and write down the circumstances under 
  81. which the bug surfaced.  If possible, adhere to the "Bug Report" 
  82. format you'll receive in your technical support packet.  In this 
  83. way, the quality of the support you have access to will continuously
  84. improve.

  96. One of the most convenient ways of generating IFF graphics for use
  97. in Superbase is with a realtime color digitizer like Framegrabber,
  98. which is manufactured by PP&S.  Framegrabber can capture live color 
  99. images from a color camera, b&w camera, VCR, or even television
  100. broadcasts, and save them to disk in various graphic modes.  These
  101. images can then be edited or simply used "as is" to form a picture
  102. database with Superbase!  The possibilities opened up by this process
  103. are virtually limitless.  We have included samples of images that
  104. were digitized by Framegrabber.  These are stored on the Forms Editor
  105. disk in standard IFF format.  If you like what you see, contact your
